PERAN KELUARGA DALAM PENCEGAHAN STUNTING MELALUI EDUKASI DAPMPAK MAKANAN PENGAWET BAGI KESEHATAN ANAK

Stunting is a public health problem caused by long-term nutritional deficiencies, one of which is the consumption of foods low in nutrients and high in preservatives. Families play a key role in controlling children's diets and eating habits. Jeneponto Regency, Rumbia District, consists of several villages, one of which is Bonto Manai, where the majority of residents are farmers. This community service activity aims to increase family knowledge about the dangers of food preservatives for children's health and their role in stunting prevention. The activity methods include education through counseling and interactive discussions. Evaluation was conducted using a pre-test to measure participants' initial understanding before the material was presented using a questionnaire, with a result of 33.6%. A post-test to assess improvements in participants' knowledge was conducted. Results showed an average increase in family knowledge of 91.2% after participating in the education. Participants demonstrated a better understanding of the dangers of borax, formalin, nitrite, and sodium benzoate for children and were able to identify the risks of excessive consumption of packaged foods. This program demonstrates the critical role of family education in stunting prevention through managing a safe and nutritious diet.
