PENINGKATAN KEPEDULIAN MASYARAKAT TERHADAP TOKSISITAS PAPARAN RESIDU PESTISIDA

Nowadays, pesticide poisoning among farmers is increasing, along with the widespread attacks of pests and plant diseases, so that the use of pesticides is widely used by farmers to improve the quality of their agricultural products. Therefore, farmers and pesticides are two sides that are difficult to separate. However, the use of pesticides is not supported by farmers' understanding of pesticide application according to the recommendations and the correct dosages listed on the pesticide packaging labels. Based on the purpose of pesticide use, which is to control pests, the chemical content of pesticides can cause toxic effects that are detrimental to humans and the surrounding environment, such as irritation to the eye membranes and skin and can even disrupt the nervous system. This service method uses an extention method preceded that begins with filling out a questionnaire to measure the level of knowledge from public of Walimpong Village, Bone Regency before providing outreach. The results of the initial questionnaire showed that public knowledge of the dangers of pesticide residues was still low. Therefore, it was followed up with the presentation of outreach material on the toxicity of pesticide residue exposure. After the outreach activity, a discussion session and a final questionnaire were held to measure the level of public knowledge after being given outreach. Based on the results of this outreach activity, it can be concluded that public knowledge and awareness of the toxicity of pesticide residue exposure has increased, and it is hoped that the incidence of health problems due to the toxicity of pesticide residue exposure can be reduced significantly.
