Heavy metal exposure is an environmental health threat that is often unnoticed by the community. Metals such as lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), and arsenic (As) can accumulate in the human body through air, water, soil, and food, and over time may increase the risk of degenerative diseases such as hypertension, kidney failure, cancer, and neurological disorders. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge of residents in Mattampa Walie Village, Lamuru District, Bone Regency, regarding the hazards of heavy metal exposure and preventive measures. The method used included interactive health education and simple demonstrations of heavy metal exposure prevention. The pre-test results showed that only 27% of participants understood the dangers of heavy metals, while the post-test results increased to 86%. All participants stated that the activity was beneficial and relevant to their needs. This program successfully enhanced community awareness about the hidden dangers of heavy metals in their surroundings and laid the groundwork for follow-up activities, including environmental water quality assessments and household waste management training.
